The department of anesthesia aims to provide the highest standard of evidence based, patient-centered care across the full range of surgical services provided at Pawana Hospital. We provide anesthesia services to mainly three Modular Operation Theatres which cater to major surgeries like Cardiac and Cardiovascular Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Oncosurgery, ENT, Urology, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Plastic and reconstructive surgery, joint replacement surgery. Anesthetic services are also available in the CT and MRI scanners and the GI Endoscopy Unit.
The department is equipped with latest gadgets for anesthesia monitoring and modern anesthesia work station for conduct of anesthesia which also includes anesthesia gas monitoring, Dragger Boyles machine and invasive cardiac monitors. Also to add to the safety and comfort of post op patients our anesthetics provide pain management therapy and treat chronic pain syndromes too.

Intensive Care Medicine is a relatively new specialty worldwide and now Department of Critical Care plays a vital role in all modern hospitals.
Our department of medical Critical Care offers sophisticated and compassionate health care to critically ill patients with a professional approach. Intensive Care units treat over 1500 patients per year. Our performance in patient care is comparable with international standards in terms of survival, nosocomial infections and patient satisfaction. Our state-of-the-art Multidisciplinary Intensive Care unit with separate negative pressure isolation and post op sterile positive pressure rooms is one of its kind.

Under able guidance of the founder director, a team of expert intensivists work round the clock to provide best possible care to the critically ill patients. At least 1 dedicated intensive care consultants are present per shift (including night shifts) with a team of 2 ICU registrars.
ICUs have 2:1 patient: nurse ratio with the more serious patients receiving the attention of a dedicated nurse. A dedicated pharmacist, ICU coordinator and adequate supportive staff are working for these ICUs. We have a Medical Emergency Team attending to emergency calls from all sections of the hospital 24 hours a day with a minimal response time.


We have latest multipara monitors for invasive and non-invasive monitoring with a central monitor. All the beds are fully equipped with latest monitors, ventilator support, syringe pumps for minute monitoring of small quantity of drugs etc.

These ICUs are capable of treating patients with complex medical problems like septicemia, multi-organ failure (renal failure, respiratory failure, cardiac failure etc.), various types of poisoning, high-risk/complicated surgical patients, road traffic accidents, post renal patients, diabetic complications etc.

ICU is a very popular specialty for trainee physicians, surgeons and anesthesiologists as the practical skills acquired are transferable to all disciplines. Monthly Grand round with all the speciality consultants is conducted for multidisciplinary medical management of patient. Our multidisciplinary ICUs have a basic introductory program for the rotating residents of the hospital. These programs include lectures, symposiums, case discussions, CMEs and extensive clinical exposure in ICU setup.

ENT services are available both IPD and OPD basis and is fully equipped to meet all the routine and emergency work. Sinus, Larynx, Ear, Nose surgeries are carried out regularly.
Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS), diagnosis and surgery for vertigo (giddiness) and prompt management of Epistaxsis are few additional highlights of the department.
Besides these we provide Diagnosis Audiometry services for patients of hearing loss and also rehabilitate the impairment by providing modern in the canal hearing devices. These hearing aids are provided free of cost after initial work up to low income families under Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandai Arogya Yojana , till date we have provided 1500 hearing aid to patients throughout Maharashtra.

Department of Surgery was one of the first departments that was established at Pawana Hospital and has always been staffed by very competent and established surgeons. With the modernization of the hospital, addition of sophisticated laboratory facilities and state of the art imaging services round the clock, the department has grown leaps and bounds and is recognized as a modern and dependable Center for emergency and routine surgical work. It is now known as a tertiary referral center and caters for patients not only from Maval but from all over the Pune region.
All types of major and very complicated procedures are carried out regularly in Modular Operation theaters equipped with modern operative instruments and anesthesia machines. They also provide nutritional care and advice about lifestyle maintenance and good nutrition, often through classes available on the hospitals main campus and at community health centers.

The Department of Nutrition and Food Services manages Pawana Hospital canteen ensuring there are healthy, delicious and nutritious food options available at hospital at any time of day.

The Department of Ophthalmology is fully equipped with modern equipments to treat various eye diseases both on OPD and IPD basis. The department is upgraded regularly to keep in touch with all recent advances in the subject.
Various types of squint can be diagnosed and treated effectively with resection operations.
Cataract surgery and lens implants are being done regularly with SICS. Suture less surgeries are done regularly and the patient's post-operative morbidity is minimal. We provided comprehensive packages for cataract according to the lens used in the surgery where we provide high end imported lens.
Early glaucomatous changes and medical management of glaucoma are done for patients. Posterior segment pathologies are also diagnosed and treated.
We perform EYE camps for school children on a regular basis and conduct eye check up for the industrial employees of various companies in the MIDC Zone.
Pediatric ophthalmology is another branch we are developing where we operate squint patients under RGJAY scheme of Govt of Maharashtra.

In a nutshell, it is one stop treatment for all orthopedic ailments and fractures with emphasis on avoidance of complications, rapid mobilization, decreased period of confinement and an early return to normalcy.

Hosts of joint problems, particularly sports injuries and meniscus and ligament tears are reconstructed arthroscopically with minimal tissue dissection using bio-absorbable materials to ensure rapid recovery and return to normalcy.

As Hospital is located very close to Western express highway there is huge toll of Accident & Trauma patient. Our center provides round a clock emergency & Accident management services to all such patient at the critical hour. We treat patients of poly trauma, long bone compound fractures, Vascular Injury, industrial trauma and sport injury with priority after proper stabilization and triage in our emergency casualty unit. We have modular operation theater with laminar air flow which is state of art facility for operating clean & infected wounds and fracture.

Pawana Hospital has 6 bedded emergency casualty unit with all necessary life saving equipment which includes defibrillator, intra arotic balloon pump, cardiac monitor & emergency crash cart. The unit is supervised by our team of orthopedic consultant round the clock. We have ACLS train nurses & paramedic to take care of the primary management.

We understand the agony of excruciating chronic pain. Pawana Hospital Pain management program uses a multi disciplinary approach to the treatment of pain. Immunology and serology : Most of the parameters are performed on Eliscan, ELISA reader and washer
Cytology and Histo-pathology : Processing is done in a preapproved outside lab and reporting of all routine samples is done inhouse
In our Clinical Pathology section urine samples are chemically analyzed on an automated urino -meter and faeces samples are screened conventionally.
Outsourced test : For tests not performed inhouse, samples are sent to superspeciality labs, after proper auditing of the same.
Due care is taken for disposing hazardous samples and the waste disposal system


Microbiology laboratory is well equipped. The enriched media supplied with the equipment promote speedy growth of micro-organisms and enable us to identify and report the antibiotic sensitivity well within 24 hours. For last 3 years we have a specialized unit in Cancer building for cancer rehab. Lymphoedema Therapy and Breast Prosthesis Lymph edema in upper and lower extremity can be greatly reduced and managed through manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) and combined decongestive therapy (CDT). We have a specialized lymphatic drainage machine & lymphatic drainage sleeves. We also provide Silicon breast prosthesis to Post Ca Breast Patients. Specific individualized exercise program, counseling and family education to the referred cancer patients are done as per reference.

Microwave Diathermy (MWD) The recent advancement in pain management modality is in form of MWD which is a higher version of Short Wave Diathermy.

For the last two years department has been successful in providing Cardiac rehabilitation program for post CABG patients.
Individualized program is conducted right from Phase I- IV for 3 months. Complete physical, Psychological, Vocational assessment is done at the commencement of the program. Thereby monitored graded exercise program according to the Bruces Protocol is undertaken. Our Cardiac Rehab team includes Cardiac Surgeon, Cardiac Physician, Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist, Social worker, dietician and other team members. Patients are counseled at the time of discharge. Patients continue on OPD basis and resume their daily routine and jobs successfully.

It is a biofeed back equipment providing upper limb ergometery that helps to improve cardiac endurance; upper body function in post CABG as well as Ca Breast Patients.

Department of radiology offers clinical services to the entire hospital for Indoor and outdoor patients. The clinical structure of department is organized in the following subspecialty divisions.

This division provides a comprehensive range of procedures, whole body sonography, biopsy, drainage and other USG guided procedures in the department. The unit has high resolution probes with facilities of Transvaginal, Transrectal and superficial soft tissue as well as musculoskeletal USG. A portable and intraoperative ultrasonography is also provided for Intensive care unit and Trauma patient as well as for intraoperative purpose. The department of ultrasonography and color Doppler has high frequency probe for arterial and venous color Doppler facilities for Inpatient and Outpatient. Intraoperative sonography guided laser ablation of varicose vein treatment is also offered in conjunction with vascular surgery department.



The hospital is equipped with spiral CT. It routinely performs whole body CT scan.



This unit has 0.3T MR unit. All routine MRI examinations are done like MRI brain with angiography, venogram, spinal and MSK imaging.
